Middle Schools News 2024 Spring Sports Updates TRACK AND FIELD : The 2024 Conference Meet indiviual results can be found HERE . Congratulations to Loveland (girls) and to West Clermont (boys) for bringing home team championships! This was the Lady Tigers’ 11th Conference title overall! OHSAA MS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS : Congratulations to our ECC athletes who qualified for the 2024 OHSAA Track and Field Championships held May 11. Complete results are HERE . Athletes of the Week The ECC is again recognizing Athletes of the Week at the middle school level. Like our conference high schools, coaches will submit their student-athletes and each recipient will be posted here weekly. WEEK ENDING MAY 5 Walnut Hills girls track would like to recognize seventh grader Althea Davis as the Athlete of the Week. At the ECC Meet on Monday, Althea ran the 400m dash and crushed her PR with a 1:04.09 placing third overall. She then ran the 4x4 and was the anchor. Walnut was in second place to Loveland until it was Althea’s leg. Althea put Walnut Hills in first place and the Lady Eagles broke the 4x4 ECC record with a 4:23.97! Kings JH track team would like to recognize Mau Garcia and Madison Smith for winning the Red/White/Blue Sportsmanship award for the 2024 season! Congratulations! Ethan Deck , #1 singles player for Loveland tennis, is undefeated in both his seventhth grade AND eighth grade seasons. One more match to play! Nagel tennis player Jack Downey has been a very versatile player this season! He has played mainly doubles, but he is becoming an accomplished singles player also. He is also our equipment manager! His help keeping track of and helping our team out with the transport of our numerous pieces of equipment has been invaluable! Jack is an eighth grader who is heading for a very successful future as a high school player. Kings would like to recognize the boys lacrosse A team for its accomplishments this season. The Knights finished in third place (out of 23 teams) in the Ohio Southern Region this year going 11-2 on the season. This is the highest the boys Knights have placed in program history. The Knights also secured a fifth seed in Division I at the Ohio MS Boys Lacrosse State Tournament this year. This is also the highest rank the Knights have achieved in program history! Great job Knights! Loveland track and field would like to recognize our athletes who qualified for the State Meet: eighth graders Anna Harrison in pole vault and 100 hurdles; Emily Deem in pole vault; Elise Brantley in high jump; Kali Rodriguez in the 800. Also, our 4x800 team of Kali , seventh grader Brynleigh Scherman , and eighth graders Abby Droessler and Hannah Schroeder ; our 4x100 team of eighth graders Andi Guy , Claire Motylinski , Akosua Bioh , and seventh grader Heidi Glover ; and our 4x400 team of Kali , seventh graders Abby Kaszyca and Franny Torlone , and eighth graders JuJu Lee also advanced! Kings softball won the ECC tournament against Lebanon this weekend! Both teams played well. Special shout out to eighth grade pitcher Alexis Fera who struck out 18 and had no walks! WEEK ENDING APRIL 28 Anna Jorden (8th) broke the Milford track and field record in the high jump, cleared 5’1”. The previous record was 5’0” set in 1987 by Crowe . Congrats Anna ! Cayde Nelson-Muhr (8th) broke the Milford track and field record in long jump! Cayde jumped 16’4” - the previous record was 15’4” set in 2007 by Morgan Wolcott . Congrats Cayde ! Nagel’s Athletes of the Week are the doubles team of Crew Winslow and John Meyers . Crew and John really complement each other as a doubles team. They have held down the position of first doubles, and they have faced some very tough opponents throughout the season, but they have only had one close tiebreaker loss which they both learned from. When they were faced with the same deciding tie breaker again, they held their ground and came up with the overall win for the team. They will be assets on their high school teams next season. Loveland track and field would like to recognize eighth grade hurdler Isla Gruffydd . Isla won the 100 and 200 hurdles and was on the gold medal winning 4x100 relay team at the Tiger Invitational. Eighth grader Andrew Bally PR’d and won the 800 at the Tiger Invite. Seventh graders Lily Gutekunst and Amy Papsdorf both broke the 8-minute mile mark for the first time this season. Seventh grader Gavin Blackledge PR’d in the long jump. Eighth graders Kali Rodriguez , JuJu Lee , Jacob Stephens , and Blake Rohlfs broke our co-ed 4x4 record! WEEK ENDING APRIL 21 Kings boys lacrosse would like to recognize our A and B teams in their wins against ECC rivals Loveland on Tuesday and Little Miami on Thursday. The A team Knights again had an impressive showing this week. They put up a combined 32 points, while only allowing three goals for both games! The Knights are now 8-0 so far this season. Eighth grader Gavin Modesto (attack) had 18 points (eight goals and 10 assists), eight ground balls, and one caused turnover. Gavin has improved dramatically over the year and continues to improve every game. Eighth grader Lucas Wolf (midfielder/attack) also had two impressive outings this past week. Lucas had seven points (five goals and two assists) and a pair of ground balls. Lucas has moved up in the depth chart and is now a key offensive player for the Knights. The B team also put up some impressive stats this past week, outscoring opponents 10-2. The B team is now 5-1-2 on the season. First-year player znd seventh grader JT Hotlsberry (midfielder) is developing into a great player. JT had two goals, eight ground balls, and three caused turnovers on the week. JT’s lacrosse IQ is growing every time he touches the field. Nagel top singles player Stefan Trobok is a skilled shot-maker who thoughtfully defeats his opponents with smart shot-making and a strong determination to win. Stefan has a bright future as a high school player! Loveland track would like to recognize eighth grade jumper Elise Brantley . Elise has continued to improve as the year has gone on as one of our top two long and high jumpers. Seventh grader Grant Yoxthimer has had a great first season and is one of our top hurdlers and long jumpers. Seventh grade sprinter Heidi Glover has found a way to balance three sports this spring and has been one of our top sprinters as well as the anchor of our 4x100 relay team. Eighth grade thrower Brady Krause has been a constant leader and top thrower on our boys team. West Clermont eighth grade softball player Braylin Cornell registered a perfect 4-for-4 batting performance with four RBIs, aiding in Tuesday’s 15-2 victory for the Lady Wolves over Sycamore. Kaviya Stewart , Ally Dixon , Olivia Elliott , and Macie Santos also collected RBIs in the win. On the mound, Khloe Cartwright and Annabell Clephane combined to allow three hits and no earned runs while recording six strikeouts and giving up only one walk. WEEK ENDING APRIL 14 Loveland track would like to recognize eighth grader Anna Harrison for winning the pole vault at Oak Hills and breaking the school record with a vault of 9’ 2". Eighth grader Ava Williams was the leading point scorer and won the long jump at Talwanda this past week. Seventh grade distance runner Stan McCoy was the team’s leading scorer at the Centerville Relays where he ran the Distance Medley Relay, the 4x800 relay, and the 4x400 relay.
