Middle/Junior Schools News Fall Winter Spring Schools Directions High School Site News 2020-21 Winter Sports Updates BOYS BASKETBALL : Kings won last winter's ECC seventh grade title, while Walnut Hills captured the eighth grade championship. This year's conference tournament is scheduled to begin February 4, with the seventh grade at Little Miami HS and the eighth grade at Kings HS. The "B" Tourney is set for February 6, with the seventh grade at Nagel MS and the eighth grade at Loveland MS. More information to come. GIRLS BASKETBALL : Walnut Hills and Milford finished first and second respectively in both the seventh and eighth grade levels last winter. The ECC tournament is currently scheduled for January 28 at Milford JH (seventh grade) and Nagel MS (eighth grade). The "B" Tournament is slated for January 30 at Lebanon MS. More information to come. WRESTLING : The Loveland Tigers captured the 2020 ECC wrestling title, finishing ahead of runner-up Milford by 16 points. This year's ECC Tournament is currently scheduled for Lebanon MS on February 12-13. NOTE : Keep in mind, all tournament dates are subject to change. Athletes of the Week The ECC is recognizing Athletes of the Week at the middle school level. Like our conference high schools, coaches will submit their student-athletes and each recipient will be posted here weekly. WEEK OF DECEMBER 6-13 The Kings eighth grade A boys basketball team picked up two wins this past week and were led by Nate Lyman who averaged 18 points on the week. West Clermont seventh grade Gray boys basketball squad is recognizing the following players: Jacob Zeibold was a defensive guru in a 46-45 win over Western Brown; Caleb Miller tallied four points, seven steals, five rebounds, and three assists in a 37-32 loss to Loveland; Lane Madden recorded six points, eleven rebounds, three steals, and an assist in a 34-15 loss to Milford; Chris Smith scored ten points and added three rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists in 1 38-32 victory over Little Miami; and Landon Young registered 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in a 31-21 win over the Nagel Hawks. Kings seventh grade A boys basketball squad got a hard-fought victory at Lebanon Thursday. The team was led by Quinn Davis on defense and Ben Lockwood on offense. The Knights are 3-0 and excited to play Nagel on Tuesday! Loveland seventh grade girls basketball player Amy Ahmad Fathi comes to practice and defines the saying “actions are bigger than words.” Amy works hard and plays determined. She doesn’t think individual points, but team success. Amy is the teammate who makes everyone play better together. Thank you Amy for being a Loveland student-athlete! Lebanon eighth grade wrestler Colton McHale went 3-0 on the weekend to raise his record to 6-0 for the season. Milford seventh grade Red girls basketball player Rachel Morgan has been a fearless leader on and off the court. Rachel's floor awareness has been incredible throughout the season, and she is one of the strongest post finishers in the ECC. Great post player but even greater teammate! Nagel eighth grade Blue boys basketball player Mason Glen had 17 points in a double-overtime victory over Winton Woods on Saturday. Nagel swimming makes a splash at its first meet against Walnut Hills on December 7. Chase Grisi (seventh grade) won all his events, finishing his 100 fly in 59.06 and 25 fly in 12.15. Cooper Burke (eighth grade and a student at MVCA) won all his events, finishing his 200 free in 1:58.94 and 100 free in 54.89, both swims would rival any high school swimmer. Olivia Lyons (eighth grade) and McKenna Johnson (seventh grade) joined these two boys to win both the 200 medley (1:58.55) and 200 free relays (1:44.82). Great way to start the season. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30-DECEMBER 6 West Clermont seventh grade Navy girls basketball players Kamryn Lowe and Sophie Crider really stepped up with great defensive stops and some key baskets to help the team to a big win over Little Miami. Congrats to Sophie and Kamryn ! West Clermont eighth grade Navy girls basketball players Gwen Miller and Allie Rees did a great job on the floor with leadership and aggressive play to help their team when other teammates were in foul trouble. Great job Allie and Gwen ! Loveland seventh grade girls basketball player Caroline Bayliff shows up each day for the love of the game. Caroline starts and ends every practice with hard work and tremendous focus. She is a leader who encourages others through words and most importantly her actions. Thank you Caroline for being a Loveland student-athlete! Lebanon seventh grade White girls basketball player Lily Bryant dominated this past week against a tough Kings team. Lily’s shut-down defensive effort, rebounds on both sides of the court, and strong offensive presence helped push the team to victory. Keep being a leader, Lily ! Loveland eighth grade girls basketball player Sophia Loomis has been the Lady Tigers' leading scorer and rebounder this year. We have placed a great deal of responsibilities on her and she has accepted the challenge. Little Miami seventh grade A boys basketball player Jase Hatte was the Panthers leading scorer in both of their contests this week. Jase has been working hard at practice and always hustles on every play. Jase would play every minute of every game if he could. The Kings eighth grade boys went 2-0 on the week and were led by Kato Meissner who scored 16 and 13 points in the two victories. The Lebanon seventh grade Maroon boys basketball team was led this past week by Luke Faler who averaged 11.5 points and six rebounds in two wins over Nagel Silver and Winton Woods. The Kings seventh grade A team was led this past week by Ben Lockwood and Tawana Mudzinganyama . Both provided leadership on the offensive and defensive ends of the court. The Knights are 2 - 0 and off to a great start! Jenna Burke had a career-high 17 points for the Kings eighth grade girls team in a loss to Lebanon on Wednesday night. She currently leads the Kings team in scoring at 11.5 points per game. Milford eighth grade wrestler Brady Delaney had a key victory by pin in Friday's dual against Loveland. He beat a returning league champion and helped spur his team to win four consecutive matches. Brady works hard each and every day of practice to become a better wrestler and has emerged as a great team leader on and off the mat. Loveland eighth grade Orange boys basketball players Henry Bradley and Brock Conatser had a great game that led to a hard-fought win against West Clermont last week. Henry did a fantastic job taking care of the ball and being aggressive offensively, while Brock’s hustle led the team defensively. Great job Henry & Brock ! Violet Shuluga of the Milford eighth grade Red girls basketball team has been on fire. She plays very hard on both ends of the floor. She leads her team in just about offensive category. Not only does Violet work hard on the court, but she is also a straight-A student in the classroom. WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23-29 Kings eighth grade girls basketball player Ava Gendreau led the team to a hard-fought three-point win over a very strong Milford team in the season opener. She led the team with 15 points and chipped in 10 rebounds. Ryann Schnecker pitched in 16 rebounds of her own, played outstanding defense throughout the game, and hit a game-tying corner 3 late in the fourth quarter. Loveland seventh grade girls basketball player Sadie Dickey shows up to the gym ready to work. Sadie is a team player who encourages others and is always working to improve her game. Thank you Sadie for being a Loveland student-athlete! WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16-22 Loveland eighth grade girls basketball player Claire Neiger shows up everyday to the gym wanting to get better.
